Well… not quite. But things are finally beginning to green up a bit, now that the (most recent) snow is finally gone, and we’re getting a bit of sun (and, unfortunately, the dusty, gusty winds that bring that nice warm air).
So, of course, I get the cold I managed to (mostly) avoid this winter.
Typical.
So this year, the big April Fools joke was played on all us Twin Citians by our famously fickle climate: in what U of M climatologists referred to as a “classic late winter storm“, we got 5 inches of snow dumped on us after about a week of warm, dry, throroughly spring-like weather (which has since returned, letting me finally get out on the bike and work off some of the ol’ winter insulation…)
Jolie’s begun smiling at us (not just the bubbly, random smiles of a couple of weeks ago) and, like they say, it’s a huge bonding moment. After a month, I’m getting more of a sense of her as a person — what she likes, dislikes — than just a general sense of “baby”.
Plus, we managed to get her (and ourselves, natch) out of the house for a while, now that the thaw’s on. Took a nice little ramble around Roseville’s Central Park, got to reminisce with the wife about the unsafe playground equipment of our childhood (hot metal slides, tractor tires with steel belts exposed…)
